Calvin Leung Releases Debut Piano Composition “The Adventure Etude” on World Piano Day 2023

In celebration of World Piano Day 2023, pianist-composer Calvin Leung proudly announces the release of his debut piano composition, The Adventure Etude, a piece that encapsulates the spirit of exploration and artistic discovery.

Inspired by a transformative journey to Queenstown, New Zealand, Leung crafted The Adventure Etude following an unforgettable moment witnessing a street pianist perform against the backdrop of the town’s stunning alpine scenery.

“The way the music echoed through the streets, was simply mesmerizing,” Calvin recalls. “That experience reignited my passion for the piano and planted the seeds for this composition.”

Characterised by its dynamic movement and expressive complexity, The Adventure Etude is a vivid reflection of Leung’s creative vision. The composition features rapid, cascading passages and evocative harmonies that convey the exhilaration of exploration and the challenges of artistic mastery.

World Piano Day, celebrated annually on the 88th day of the year in recognition of the piano’s 88 keys, serves as a fitting occasion for Leung’s debut. “This day brings together pianists and enthusiasts worldwide, and I am honored to contribute my composition to this global celebration of music,” he remarks.
